Judy Felsen, a pastel artist was a career music and computer teacher but still found ways to pursue her interest in art.  She has taken numerous art classes and workshops.

Because of her music background she paints with the thoughts of crescendo - decrescendo - largo and allegro to create variety, interest and balance in her works.  Her style is realism and expressionism.  She loves to share her excitement of the Southwestern Landscape and the brilliance of flowers and botanicals. 

“Soft Pastels excite me more than any other medium I have used because of their tactile nature.  There is a never ending variety of surfaces, under paintings, softness and hardness of the pastels and the effects created on different surfaces. I love the intense pigmentation of pastels and the never ending colors that are available. I want viewers to share my excitement of the landscapes and flowers I paint.” 

Judy's paintings have been accepted in the Pastel Society of the West Coast Members Online Show, Expo New Mexico Fine Art Professional Show, Masterworks NM,VSA "We Care", PAPNM (Plein Air Painters of New Mexico), Richeson 75 Still Life and Florals, the PSNM National Pastel Large Works and Small Works shows, IAPS 2013 Web Show, Gallery with a Cause-New Mexico Cancer Center, Viva Flora-Santa Fe Community Gallery, Fuller Lodge Art Center – Wallflowers and New Mexico Art League - Visions of Nature: Sky and Earth and the Art of the Flower.

Judy is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of New Mexico.  She is also a member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico and Pastel Society of the West Coast.
